December can be a whirlwind balancing act of work, errands, visiting friends, hosting and attending parties and (most challenging of all) choosing exactly the right gifts for those we love. It’s no wonder so many of us feel exhausted by the time Christmas arrives!
Gift giving is an area that can create lots of stress and angst but it can be simplified in a couple of ways:
First, remember that nearly everyone already has everything they want, but remembering that person’s special interests can help.
How about:
A subscription to a special interest magazine.(biking, cars, travel, gourmet cooking, science, psychology, etc.), A contribution to that person’s special interest charity (like RSPCA for animal lovers for instance), A voucher for a restaurant they might enjoy.
But most importantly, be willing to let go of the idea that you can find the perfect gift, and remember it IS the thought that counts.
We will be sharing our favourite tips for maintaining optimal health during the Silly Season (as well as the rest of the year!)and would be happy to see yours as well.
Today’s Tip: Pace yourself! Take it easy and give yourself time to appreciate and enjoy the process. Take a minute to stop and enjoy the beauty of this particular summer and take some time to enjoy the amazing and abundant display of flowers and foliage we are being treated to this year.
Whenever stress begins to build, a proven release is to have a few long, slow breaths emphasizing and lengthening the exhalation phase: INSTANT CALM!
Come back to the present moment (not the gift wrapped kind!) and remember-the fun you are supposed to be enjoying will slip right past you unless you can be present and aware of it.
Remember - this is supposed to be fun!
